To combat the deworming issue, the first programme was conducted in February 2015 and has continued annually since.
in 2015 the Government of India launched the fixed-day anganwadi and school-based National Deworming Day to deworm all children aged 1-19 years.

The National Deworming Day campaign is held in schools. The campaign is also held in the villages through Anganwadi centres, which are tasked with providing basic healthcare facilities in rural areas. Albendazole is a deworming medicine that is provided in tablet and syrup form as per the age and body weight of the child. Albendazol usually not recommended for infant baby or below 1 year age.
